The Pit Shirt
Years ago, I was at the Corvette museum in Bowling Green minding my own business and dodging shrink holes. Amidst the relics, I stumbled upon a pit tee, worn proudly by the daredevil crew of Briggs Cunningham's Le Mans team. The shirt, once a pristine white canvas, had weathered the storms of time, its front art clinging to legibility like a desperate survivor. Enthralled by the aesthetics, I fell headlong into the pursuit of replicating that very essence.
Fast forward to this year, and behold my latest endeavor - an homage to the elusive charm of yesteryear. No ordinary white shirt would suffice; I went for the luxurious tri-blend from Bella Canvas, a caress on the skin like a gentle breeze. The art, a mirror to Briggs' vision in 1960, is etched with meticulous detail, capturing the spirit of an era when racing was a wild dance on the edge of oblivion.
This one feels old the day you get it.
